MODO Ice Hockey - one of Europe's leading franchises.
Our goal is to maintain the high standards of MODO Hockey in the Swedish Elite series and thereby establish ourselves as one of Europe's leading franchises. This position will be cemented with the help of Örnsköldviks genuine hockey culture and our ambition to always place the training and development of our younger players in the forefront.
Since the sixties we have developed our own training model in order to rear youngsters into becoming world-class ice hockey players for whom team spirit and solidarity are the cornerstones. We set high standards for the social responsibility we take for the children and youth in our organisation.
Our combination of humble, curious and professional conduct has lead to a creative association whose operation is characterised by optimism and forward thinking. For thousands of people MODO Hockey is synonymous with memories, joy and commitment.
We want to build on this.

MODO Ice Hockey - a medium-sized company
MODO Hockey is an idealistic sports organisation. However, in many aspects it we are also a medium-sized commercial company. We have a turnover of roughly 50 million Swedish kronor and we have 50 full time employees. 350 people receive their income from us; their salaries, including social fees and taxes, comes to approximately 24 million kronor.
Our commitment is too much more then just ice hockey. The events themselves are visited by a staggering 150 000 people per year and for both the municipality and other businesses this has multiplier effects.
For example:
- Every year we buy goods and services within Örnsköldsviks municipality for roughly ten million kronor.
- Our organisation generates approximately 3000 passengers per year for Scandinavian Airlines domestic flights. (This includes our own team as well as opposing teams, referees, business contacts, media etc.)
- Our organisation also generates numerous job opportunities. Home games require roughly 180 officials; secretariat; parking attendants; security personnel; emergency and rescue service; serving personnel etc. The Elite team, the youth organisation and the hockey school draw nearly 4000 hotel guest to Örnsköldsvik per year, this amounts to a turnover of approximately five million kronor.
- TV companies have during last few years produced close to 50 viewing hours where MODO Hockey has been exposed. We have also featured regularly in radio, and both national and local newspapers.
MODO Ice Hockey - Sweden's best development school
The year was 1921, and in a café in the town of Sund in Domsjö a few dedicated souls decided to establish Alfredshems IK. To this day the clubs development has steadily pointed upwards. In 1938 ice hockey became part of the organisation and 20 years later the team played in the highest division at the time - Allsvenskan.
In 1963 MODO became the clubs new name and the following year Kempehallen arena was inaugurated. The SM (Swedish Championships) gold was captured in 1979 and since then the team has played in the SM finals on three occasions: 1994, 1999 and 2000.
The representation team's impressive results over the last few years is no coincidence - but rather the fruit of a strategic long term and goal orientated effort. Their success is a clear indication that our training model is the correct one and that we are becoming increasingly attractive for young players around Sweden.
